Written in plain words, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. The short version: ranking is free, your words stay yours, and a ranking is never sold.

The short version. You can look at boards, vote and argue without an account, free, with no upsell in the way. If you make a board, it stays yours and you can take it down. Paid placements exist and are labelled Sponsored, kept out of the ordinary ranking. Votes are never sold, automated, or coordinated.

1. What this site is

TIER EVERYTHING (tier.fcthq.com) lets people arrange items into five tiers — GOATED, TOP TIER, CHAD, NPC, COOKED — and argue about them. A board is a ranking with a title and a list of items; a thread under each item is where the argument happens. The site is run by one person, described on the about page.

2. What it costs

Using the site is free. Some pages carry Google AdSense advertising, and some boards are sponsored. Pro features exist and are optional. Nothing on the site is sold by rank: a sponsored board is labelled Sponsored, sits apart from the rest, and does not appear in the ordinary ranking. How the money works is written up in full.

3. Accounts

Making a board, or claiming a name on the site, needs a sign-in (Google, or Microsoft). Signing in does not hand over anything beyond what is described on the privacy page.
One account per person. An account that exists to manipulate rankings can be removed, along with its votes and boards.
Ask and the account goes away: boards you made lose the byline rather than keeping your name on them.

4. Your content

Boards, item names, comments and wall notes stay yours. By posting them here you allow the site to display them as part of the service — that is the licence, and it ends when you remove the content. Removing a board or a comment takes it off the site. You keep the right to use what you wrote anywhere else.

5. What is not allowed

Spam, bulk posting, and automated voting of any kind.
Paid votes, vote trading, sockpuppets, and bought rankings. These are not for sale, and attempts are not tolerated.
Content that is unlawful, or that infringes someone else's rights.
Impersonating another person, or presenting a board as more popular than it is.
Scraping the site to resell, re-host, or train on it without asking.

Breaking these can mean a board, a comment, or an account being removed, and a repeat offence can mean the account goes too. If a takedown is disputed, say so on the contact page and it will be looked at by a person.

6. What is not guaranteed

The site is provided as it is. Boards, rankings, comments and counts can change, be wrong, or disappear — a ranking is an opinion held by whoever made it, not a fact. Nothing here is a warranty of anything, and to the extent the law allows it, the site owner is not liable for losses that come from relying on what is published here.

7. Changes

These terms can change, and when they do the change is written on this page rather than applied quietly. Using the site after a change means the new version applies.

8. Who runs it

Felix Lin, who is afunnyrat everywhere, reachable through the contact page and fcthq.com. These terms are governed by the law that applies where the site owner lives, and disputes go to the courts there.
